Lord Hethrir

Hethrir was a male Firrerreo who was at one time, along with his lover Rillao, an apprentice of Darth Vader. His powers in the dark side of the Force would become a threat to not only his son Tigris, but also the children of Han and Leia Organa Solo.

Hethrir was presumably born on the Firrerreo homeworld of Firrerre in 54 BBY during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Hethrir and another Firrerre named Rillao were discovered to be Force-sensitive by Darth Vader while studying at an unknown university. Despite the Humanocentric policies of the Empire, Darth Vader trained Hethrir and Rillao as Dark Side Adepts.

When Hethrir and Rillao conceived a child, Darth Vader had high hopes for turning it to the dark side. Rillao, however, had other ideas, and spirited herself and Tigris (who had no Force powers anyway) away. Hethrir eventually caught up with them and tortured Rillao, keeping Tigris as his servant. Hethrir was awarded the title of Procurator of Justice, but had to prove to Vader that he would remain loyal. His actions were terrible: he abducted a freighter filled with his own people, and then destroyed his homeworld of Firrerre, killing millions.

Hethrir also had a fleet of freighters constructed for the use of storing his enemies in suspended animation. Hethrir believed that both he and the Empire would last a thousand years. Thus, after a thousand years, Hethrir planned to return to those freighters and awake their prisoners from their sleep, in the hopes that they would remember as an all-powerful god whom they had to obey.

He also had Crseih Station constructed to serve as a mobile research centre where experiments that tested the limits of realspace, hyperspace and otherspace. In 3 ABY, Crseih Station relocated to the Crseih system where it orbited a blackhole and a crystallizing white dwarf star. Due to a combination of the disturbances in the Force of a crystallizing star and Hethrir's torturing of his prisoners, a mysterious alien known as Waru was brought into the galaxy from another dimension. He was a hideous, extradimentional, Force-sensitive mass of flesh that claimed to be a healer (though he really robbed his victims of their life force to try to create a portal back to his own dimension).

Later, when the Galactic Empire had fallen after the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Hethrir fled on his own artificial planet, a Worldcraft, with his followers. He also towed the fleet of captured freighters into hyperspace and placed them in an uncharted part of the Outer Rim to evade the New Republic. Hethrir would visit the freighters at will and would select children to sell as slaves to fund his Empire Reborn. Sometimes, he would wake the parents and inform them that he was taking their children as a means to crush them since most of the prisoners were enemies of the Empire. Some of these children ended up on his Worldcraft where they were either indoctrinated into Proctors and Empire Youths if they were proven to be useful or were shipped to Crseih Station to be sold as slaves. It is also worth nothing that due to his anti-alien prejudice, most of his Proctors and Empire Youth were Human while the majority of those sold into slavery were aliens.

Hethrir's military forces were led by Admiral Galak Fyyar. Fyyar delivered Hethrir a Chistori, Desann, who had left Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy after murdering another student. Despite Hethrir's anti-alien prejudice, he made Desann his right hand in the Empire Reborn movement, noting that even the xenophobic Emperor Palpatine had made exceptions for exceptional beings like Grand Admiral Thrawn and himself.

Several of Hethrir's Empire Youths, Force-sensitive individuals who had shown devotion to the Empire Reborn and had been "purified" by Waru, were entrusted to Desann by the Firrerreo. Desann, in addition to training those with talent, experimented with imbuing Human Empire Youths without much Force talent (chosen by Hethrir for reasons of racial dogma rather than pragmatism) with dark side powers, using Force crystals and ancient alchemical secrets of Sith origin.

Hethrir also sought the Valley of the Jedi, which had been revealed to exist by an ally, High Inquisitor Tremayne. He tasked Desann with locating it, which he did by tricking the Jedi Knight Kyle Katarn into revealing its location. Desann led his students to the psychic bloodstain remaining at the site, quadrupling their innate powers with the leftover energy from the freed Jedi sprits that were once trapped there. These empowered Empire Youths came to be called the Reborn.

Eventually, however, Katarn and Skywalker dealt with Desann and the Reborn, hampering the Empire Reborn movement. Hethrir was later able to capture the Solo children Jaina, Jacen and Anakin for Waru so that he could use them to make a connection to the Force and create the portal. However, Leia Organa Solo had freed Rillao, and she and Tigris helped the Solo children escape.

Given up all hope of ever creating the portal, Waru pulled Hethrir back into his energy field, destroying them both.
