Introduction
The 47th Imperial Expeditionary Force, known as the Imperial Army, was formed in the February of 2003 during Beta Testing of Star Wars Galaxies and has took up residency on the Chilastra server when the game went live that summer. The 47th has been an Imperial staple on that server to this day where the 47th now reigns supreme as the most powerful guild on the server.
The 47th IEF offers a wide variety of activities to it's members and does not limit who can participate. Whether you're a dedicated crafter or the most die hard Stormtrooper in his Emperor's service you can call the 47th home.
So when you're looking for a guild consider a military force based on stability. One that takes no short cuts in its operation. One that prides itself on professionalism. One that is the envy of all Imperial forces.
Join the 47th and take part in the largest and most complete Imperial experience eXile server has to offer...
History
The 47th IEF was formed ten months into the Clone Wars after a devastating counter attack left the 283rd Attack Battalion and the 78th Armored Division with heavy losses. The 283rd and 78th were reformed into the 47th Assault Battalion.
Fighting on countless worlds in hundreds of battles from the core systems to the very edge of the outer rim, the 47th became the quick reaction force of the Republic. Wherever the Confederacy attempted to push into the Republic the 47th was there to counter. As the war took its toll the 47th took losses but replacements were slow to arrive to the 47th.
Always on the move, always shoring up the defenses and attacking the many fortress worlds of the Confederacy, the 47th found themselves well below battalion strength. Bureaucrats wanted to force the 47th to reform with another battalion but an aide to their jedi general, Colonel Reev Jax, petitioned high command to allow the 47th to retain their identity and operate as a smaller, leaner unit. The 47th became classified as an Expeditionary Force.
Rapid response became the creed of the 47th Republic Expeditionary Force. Able to deploy faster and with more mobility than larger battalions, the 47th swiftly carried the fight to the enemy. Often times embarking on raids well behind enemy lines, the 47th created chaos for the enemies of the Republic.
By the third year of the Clone Wars the 47th REF had become one of the most battle hardened fighting units in the entire Grand Army of the Republic. Then came the day that changed not only the 47th REF but the entire galaxy. The day the jedi attempted to assassinate the Chancellor and take over the Republic. Orders sent out to all clone battalions, divisions, and legions, "Execute Order 66." The 47th dutifully carried out it's task and dispatched any jedi they came upon.
With the end of the jedi order and their traitorous attempt to seize control of the Republic, the Chancellor reorganized the Republic into the Galactic Empire. No longer was the 47th green clones, they had survived the war shoulder to shoulder with their brothers. As battle hardened veterans they taught what they had learned during the war to their new brothers.
In a ceremony broadcast on the holonet through out the entire Empire the clone trooper battalions, divisions, and legions were rechristened the Imperial Army. The 47th, now the 47th Imperial Expeditionary Force, evolved into both a detachment of the Stormtrooper Corps and a part of the Imperial Army.
Reev Jax was promoted to surface marshal and would command the 47th IEF until his retirement. The reigns of leadership were passed onto Surface Marshal Flotg Zonum, followed by Surface Marshal Jayk Logaan, and currently Surface Marshal Dekard Jaxx.
While most of the Clone Wars veterans have long since past active duty age their legacy is not forgotten nor the wisdom and lessons they passed down to each generation of troopers that have carried the title of 47th IEF.
The 47th IEF is now based out of the IA Command Center on Naboo, homeworld of the Emperor. They successfully defended Naboo from the great push of rebellion that threatened to swollow the entire galaxy, establishing Naboo as a shining light for the Empire. From their base of operations on Naboo, the 47th pushed outward, beating back the rebellion. With a rich, proud history the 47th moves forward earning a new reputation of loyalty and duty as they smash the rebellion that now threatens peace and security throughout the Empire...
Activities
- Administrative Meetings
Each week the guild will conduct an administrative meeting in the basement of the PA hall. All members who are concurrently online will be expected to attend. At the weekly administrative meeting guild and civic issues will be discussed as well as promotion orders, player placement, and any issues brought up by members. The meeting is held each Monday night at 2100 (9:00 p.m.) EST.
- Boot Camps
"Boot Camp" is basically an event scheduled nearly every week in which a squad leader will take charge of a group of players to accomplish some type of PvE content. It may be a tour of a planet to hit all of the POIs or perhaps run through one of the many dungeons. Everyone is invited to come along though attendance is not mandatory. Those concurrently online are not required to attend if they don't wish to.
- Hunts
The hunts are basically scheduled events where guild members group together in order to kill high level mobs and NPCs for specific loot items. This is where membership in the 47th really pays off as a member can post in the forum about a particular item need and the resources of the entire guild will be thrown at whatever you need accomplished. This is where members can earn such items as krayt dragon tissues, acklay bones, woolamander bone fragments, gurk kind hides, giant dune kimoglia scales, other skill enhancing attachments et cetera.
- Roleplay Events
The 47th loves being part of the Empire. The 47th sets out to immerse our members in a true environment of adventure as often as possible. Many members will plan out story arcs which take a few weeks to complete. They run these events themselves, and with the help of the server's event staff, for our guild to have some fun. They can be nearly anything; from a krayt dragon attack during a peaceful fishing trip at the Imperial Oasis to a routine prisoner transfer gone awry at the Imperial Prison on Dathomir. We love these types of activities and try to schedule them often.
Anyone is welcome to submit their ideas for events to Surface Marshal Jaxx. Once approved, further instructions and final scheduling will take place.
- Player versus Player Combat
The 47th certainly does not shrink from battling the scum of the rebellion. We like to maintain a large force of PvPers for rapid response to hot spots bubbling up throughout the Empire. The 47th is also the premiere base busting unit of the Empire. Our Scout Trooper Corps is able to locate nearly any rebel base placement within minutes. We take this role very seriously. PvP, though highly encouraged, is not mandatory for anyone. Many players are not comfortable with it and the guild is perfectly fine with that.
Compartments
Within the 47th many groups exist which help facilitate specific activities. Members are not limited to how many groups they wish to participate in or even that they be a member of any compartment at all.
- Stormtrooper Corps
The Stormtrooper Corps is the 47th's dedicated PvPing group within guild. If PvP is your passion you are invited to try out for the Stormtrooper Corps after your provisional period is up and you've attained full charter membership. PvP is not restricted to only members of the Stormtrooper Corps. This is just a dedicated group of individuals who, when online, would willingly drop any activities at a moment's notice to engage in PvP combat.
- Scout Trooper Corps
The Scout Trooper Corps is an extension of the Stormtrooper Corps. Only members of the Stormtrooper Corps are eligible to tryout for the Scout Trooper Corps. The Scout Troopers are tasked with locating and identifying enemy bases and other physical assets. It is not a glorious job but it is perhaps one of the most important tasks for the 47th.
- Omicron Squadron
Our very own Omicron Squadron is our group of dedicated pilots. Space isn't for everyone and we realize that. Some people are very passionate about space and this squadron is there home. Omicron Squadron's cadre of pilots are highly motivated about space and prefer to get up there as often as they can. Omicron Squadron members must be Imperial pilots. Freelancers are not allowed.
Code of Conduct
Members of the Imperial Army must comply to these rules:
- Maturity
Members of IA are expected to maintain a certain level of maturity. This is one thing that sets us apart from most Player Associations. We expect maturity in our players. This doesn't mean we don't still have fun but it means we don't harass other players or throw fits because we don't always get our way.
- Role Playing
IA is first and foremost a Role Playing group. Role Playing adds content to the game. We expect Role Playing in spatial sinc,e by definition, we exist because of us Role Playing the Imperial Army. We act as a professional soldier would in the Imperial Army. Role Playing is not required in GuildChat or on the forums. During events, it is to be used in GroupChat.
- Chain of Command
The Imperial Army command chain does not just apply in-game, it also reflects responsibilities in the administration of the online IA presence. Please follow directives from superiors on the IA website, and follow orders in-game! It is each individuals responsibility to know and recognize the chain of command.
- Behavior
The Imperial Army is for people who wish to have a mature, responsible, yet also fun and enjoyable game experience. Joking around with fellow members and having fun are encouraged but acting childish or petty will not be tolerated.
- Membership in Other Player Associations
It is not acceptable to apply for IA if you are currently in another Player Association (PA) or are considering several player associations. Only apply to IA once you have made up your mind that IA is your first choice. Additionally, if you are the leader or a high ranking member of another PA and plan to move to IA do not expect preferential treatment of any kind. You will not get it. If you have any alternate characters on the server they need to either belong to IA or be unguilded.
- L337 Speak
L337 or Dewd speak is banned from the Imperial Army. Members who engage in its use will be subject to punitive measures and individuals who are known for their use of L337 speak will probably not be accepted into the PA. If you don't know what L337 speak is, good for you. If you do, then you know how damaging it is to an immersive and professional RP environment.
- Accountability
Members are 100% responsible for their accounts. If someone else logs on as you and goes wild then you will be held accountable for their actions. There will be no excuses accepted. It is important you keep others from logging on as you and ruining your good name.
- Unacceptable Play
DO NOT GRIEF. Do not engage in conduct that would be considered griefing. If you have questions about what is or isn't considered griefing ask your commanding officer or on the message boards for clarification. No member of the Imperial Army will participate in anything considered grief play.
DO NOT EXPLOIT. Do not engage in conduct that would be considered an exploit. This is means using a function in the game in a manner that is not intended. This would mean things like the 40k Swoops, Turret Spamming, and the LD exploits. There are others, but members of IA DO NOT use them.
- Communication
Communication is a vital part of our organization. Members are expected to participate in using the message boards, using the in-game guild chat system, and TeamSpeak for voice communications.
- Definitions
- Member - Someone who has gone though the IA admissions process and been accepted into IA.
- Applicant - Someone who meets the requirements of joining IA and has submitted their application as an intent and desire to join.
FAQ
- 1. What is the Imperial Army?
The Imperial Army is an Imperial-aligned Player Association (PA) found in the game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided (SWG). It is dedicated to providing a mature, "non-kiddie" atmosphere for its members to role-play in. We are a Player Vs. Player combat PA, but it is not required that members engage in PvP.
- 2. Where is Imperial Army located?
We will reside at the IA Command Center on Naboo, about two kilometers northeast of the city of Theed. This is a military base and citizens associated with the Rebellion in any way are not welcome to visit the city.
- 3. What benefits can I receive from IA?
The first and most obvious benefits are the people. IA accepts only high-quality members who we feel will be a constructive part of our organization. The group is very close-knit, and you will enjoy a very nice sense of camaraderie.
If you're following a militaristic career path, then for you, the IA would be a premiere PA for PvP gaming. We are already arranging with several Rebel PAs on our server for what will no doubt be some enjoyable PA wars and PvP role-playing.
If you're a civilian, then the IA's Support group will appeal to you. You can engage in your craft protected from unfriendly forces, and knowing that the fruits of your labors are going to a good cause.
- 4. How does the Imperial Army deal with PvPing?
Members are encouraged, but not required at any time, to go overt and hunt down members of the Rebellion. We'll also be having some PA wars, if all goes to plan. Stay tuned for more PvP developments.
- 5. Will there be taxes?
Each member pays 20,000c in dues each month. We use this money to fund the upkeep on IA Command Center structures and city perks. Dues are paid via a "tax vendor" located in the city. Simply go to the vendor and purchase the item named after you. That's all you have to do. If you can not afford the dues please contact your CO.
- 6. How will this PA distinguish itself and ensure its survival?
We are very selective in who we allow to join. We feel that if we only let in truly dedicated people we guarantee long time survival.
- 7. How many people will be in this PA?
IA can sustain basically any amount of members. You will never be rejected because of the size of the current membership body.
- 8. I'm from another PA where I was a VIP. Can I get special consideration here?
No. And trying will probably make us not want to accept your application.
- 9. Where do I sign up?
Fill out our application on the "Join" link from our website. Also, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF ON THE FORUMS. This is mandatory, and we have had to turn away otherwise good applicants due to the fact that they did not post. If you have questions, or have problems with the site, then e-mail IA Info at info@imperialarmy.com.
- 10. How do promotions work?
Promotions are time-based in the Enlisted ranks. Enlisted rank is a status symbol for how long you have been in the Imperial Army.
- 11. How do I become an officer?
You have to be willing to take on admin duties and often spend hours working on stuff like this. If you want to just hop in SWG and play then being an officer is not for you. When a position comes open for this job we will post it.
- 12. What's the whole "Chain of Command" concept like here?
To clear up one common misconception, let me state clearly that a higher-ranking enlisted member has no power over lower ranking enlister members. A high enlisted rank is a sign of longevity and good service within the PA, not a license to order people around. The only real "chain of command" is officers commanding enlisted members, and higher ranking officers commanding lower-ranking officers. But even this is subject to the overriding philosophy of our PA.
- 13. So what's the overriding philosophy of your PA?
We're just a bunch of fun, mature people who want to play the game. Even though we have ranks from Private to Surface Marshal, the PA leader and founder is no greater of a member than the most recently-admitted private. While, for the sake of keeping the PA well-organized and smoothly-operating, superior officers can ask people to do this or that, this isn't a totalitarian PA with 90% Generals and 10% enlisted Peons at the bottom. We're all just here to have fun, and we're all one group.
- 14. How to I get weapons and equipment from the PA?
We have many high level crafters who are more then happy to supply you with what you need. The only requirement is that you pay your dues. If you want something beyond the basics you may be asked to help the crafters with needed resources. If you need equipment please contact your CO.
